My MacBook Air has a problem with the launch pad, it has a black box underneath like its trying to download something but nothing is updating or downloading. It says its "paused". How do you un pause please or what is causing this?

I see that you're having some trouble with the Launchpad because you're noticing that there's a black box as if it's downloading something.
Have you checked the App Store to see if there are any pending updates? Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store appear in the Launchpad, so you may be able to find the app in question in the Updates tab of the App Store: How to update the software on your Mac - Apple Support
