Safari not responding, won't force quit, can't shut down

Safari keeps freezing. It won't force quit, can't restart because it shows open, yet there is no window, can't shut down, only way out is to pull the plug.

Safari seems to be really a flaky program.

It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After running the scans, restart the computer.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Click on finder and take cursor on top menu bar > Go > hold option key click on library > delete the contents of folders caches , cookies , saved application state , and then restart the Mac .

In very rare conditions the complete contents of safari folder are deleted into the trash , the new contents will be created when you restart the Mac .

If your Mac doesn't shut down, try Force Quit to close any apps that aren't responding. If that doesn't work, press and hold the power button until the Mac turns off.

Press and hold the power button to turn off your Mac only if it isn't responding. You'll lose unsaved changes to any documents that you have open.

     Safari won’t stay quit?

There is adware installed on your Mac.

Use  the latest release of Malwarebytes for Mac to remove malware/adware, if installed on your Mac.

For instructions:  Install Malwarebytes for Mac          Uninstall Malwarebytes for Mac

Click the “Scan Now” button. Once done, quit Malwarebytes for Mac.

Restart the computer and relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.
