Define new phone. New to you or brand new from an Apple Store?

If only new to you but used by somebody else, and their apps are still on it:

What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - "Use these steps to remove your personal information from a device, even if you don't have it anymore."hhttps://support.apple.com/HT201351

If you're worried about security change your password.

Change your Apple ID password - https://support.apple.com/HT201355

What to do after [or before] you change your Apple ID email address or password - "After you change your Apple ID email address or password, you might need to update your sign-in information with any Apple services you're using." - Or if you're seeing persistent disabled messages or repeated requests for the password to your previous AppleID. - https://support.apple.com/HT204071
