iPhone restore

Help! I've been trying to restore my iPhone SE for 12+ hours now as it shut off and had a message across the screen to connect to iTunes and restore. It's connected to iTunes on my laptop however the message reads "verifying iPhone restore" and my iPhone has the apple logo on screen along with a loading bar but neither of these have changed since the restoring process began last night. How long would this process take usually? Should I continue to leave it connected and do nothing in the hopes something happens soon??


Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Hello.

Take a look at this:

Apple logo with progress bar after updating or restoring iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support


If restarting doesn't resolve an issue, you have to put your iPhone into the recovery mode following the instructions from the article below, BUT choose update when you see a pop up from iTunes :

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
