iCloud Data from apps like instagram and snapchat

When you chose what data to back up in your icloud from your iphone, if you don't chose an app, will that app still appear on your new phone when you restore from a backup?

Also, with apps like instagram and snapchat, if you don't choose them, and the app is on your new phone, will all your photos and snapchat memories, etc still be available when you log in? If everything does show up when you log in, what is the purpose of chosing which data to back up?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Any Apps you have on your device when you backup get reinstalled from the App Store when you restore that backup file to any device. So yes, your Apps will be there, or can be downloaded from the App Store as many times as you wish to (Apps themselves, nor their installers, are never part of an iCloud or iTunes backup - they live in and are available to you from the App Store).

But if you have not selected to backup the app’s data in your iCloud backup, and those apps in question do not store your data somewhere else (e.g. your online account with the app provider), then when you restore the backup, those apps will not have your data installed along with them.

If you set it up as new, then sign into the App Store you can view all your purchased content and redownload what you want.

Then for things you use with an app provider’s online account (like Facebook, Snapchat, Kindle,...) just open the app, and sign back into your account with that service provider.

Oh yes! I forgot all about the app store!

I know that instagram, like facebook stores all your photos and anything else to do with your account somewhere in cyberland. Snapchat however, I am not so clear on. The app and its data doesn't seem to take up very much storage on the phone itself so I am thinking that all the videos and photos that a person saves in their memories must get stored somewhere with the online app provider.

The reason I ask is because I am trying to decide to set up my new phone as a new phone or restore from a backup. If I set up as a new phone, and sign into icloud/itunes, all my apps should appear, is this correct?
