tags on safari downloads disappear

Hi.

I am back on Apple Safari after a long time using third party browsers. Today, I am surprised to figure out that whatever tag we may attribute to the file that we are to download via the Save as dialog box isn't recorded.

Even if it may sound logical because Safari creates a temporary file first and that tags are attached to the latter but not to the complete download file, at the end this is nonsense.

Do you encounter this behaviour?

Is there a place to report this to Apple if you guys consider as I do that this shouldn't work like this?

Thank you.

And how are you going about "tag" these file?

The right-click, contextual menu that offers you the Download Linked File As… Save panel allows one to set one or more tags, which in fact, are set on the file when it appears on the Desktop where it was saved. Works just fine here in High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G6030) and Mojave 10.14.4 (18E226) using Safari 12.1.

Of course, if you are saving to a file system that does not support macOS extended attributes, that is another issue.
