iPad Pro - alarm sound is not working in Clock/ Alarm app.

My iPad Pro iOS is up to date with iOS 12.2. When I use the Clock app to set an alarm, the sound volume stays silent as if it is on “mute,” even though I set the ringer at the highest volume. However, my Safari shows videos that do not have any sound problems or distortions. Neither do my Reminders, , etc. There is no way in Notifications to adjust the Clock app sounds, so what can I do?

Thank you. The solution was actually much more simple. In Settings, go to Sound, then turn on Ringer and Alerts, turn on “Change with Buttons.” That restored my ability to set the volume of my alarms within the Clock app using the volume buttons on the side of my iPad.

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to hear an alarm sound on your iPad, even after doing some good troubleshooting. At this point, we would like you to reinstall iOS on your device; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article:


If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen


Use the “Update” option and not “Restore” and these steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further.
