Check the battery condition holding the option key and clicking your battery icon upper right menu bar.


If it state a condition anything but Normal you need a new battery. This can lead to issues.


Is this the mechincal HD that shipped new with you MAC— I would be highly suspect this old drive is failing.


You can get all these thing through OWC/ www.MacSales.com



if you replace the drive with an SSD it will change your life. At the same time highly recommended to change the SATA cable as well. https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/8211480/ 13" MacBook Pro SATA


If you have a boot clone you can boot your machine externally bypassing both internal HD and SATA cable. This would be very telling.
