iPhone Voicemail Full

I have an IPhone X. I have deleted all voicemails and also then cleared them, but still callers receive the message that my mailbox is full. I was reading a similar question from 2017 and there was no resolve. My service provider is Verizon. The thread from 2017 stated that Verizon indicated they were unable to reset voicemail. Has anyone else had this problem recently? If so, what is the fix?

EASY FIX. Called Verizon. Tech support said they have been getting this a lot with the new iOS update.

  1. Settings - > Phone - > Change Voicemail Password
  2. Enter new PIN twice and it should save.
  3. Go to Home screen.
  4. Call *86.
  5. Prompt will ask for voicemail PIN. Do NOT enter it. Just hang up.
  6. Problem solved.

Tech said this works 100% of the time! Worked for me as I immediately tested it from my landline. He said something that by entering new PIN and then calling and hanging up you are bumping the system so it knows you are there. Or something. I didn't really care so long as it worked.

Cheers!

Call your voicemail by holding down the number 1. Enter your code and listen to the message that asks if you want to listen to your deleted voicemails. Mine reset after the message, but then you may have to delete them in the voicemail call. If it gets 40 messages, deleted or no, it marks it full, but apple is going to do an update soon to fix it.

Actually, I followed these steps, but at Step 5, I had to enter the new password. After entering the password, the service told me my voicemail was full. I hung up and dialed back in a second time, entered the password, and this time there was no message that my voicemail was full. I tested and in fact, it had been cleared. I guess try both options and see what works for you.

I spoke with Verizon tech support. Several people have experienced the same problem and it’s only occurring with Apple devices. I was transferred to a second level tech. While I had deleted all my emails, they he was still seeing that I had 40 voicemails. He was able to do a reset to remove them.

As another tip, he told me if I ever have the problem of having duplicate voicemails.....switch the phone to airplane mode...delete the emails....then switch off airplane mode.

Y2kesq is correct. After deleting all voicemail and changing my voicemail passcode on my iPhone 6, I logged into my voicemail and actually found 2 messages that were not physically in my voicemail on the phone. Someone mistakenly called me twice and left lengthy conversations that were clogging up the voicemail. Did *86, entered my passcode and pressed 7 twice to delete both messages. Voicemail now working fine.

I have an iPhone 7 served by xfinity. Calls to them get dropped so no help there. The voice mail box shows empty but the message when I attempt to leave a vm says it’s full. I tried the airplane mode tactic but to no avail. I tried to change the vm pw but it won’t allow it. What can I do now? Thank you
