iPod Touch game apps crashing during loading.

My iPod Touch (6th Gen) just recently started having game apps crash randomly during any loading scenario in-game. It is seemingly random and doesn't happen exactly the same each time. It tends to crash during a high cpu load, such as in high fps boss fights or transitioning in game interfaces, such as loading into a mission. I don't know if my iPod is worn out from all the gaming I've done on it or if a restore would even help. It is only in game apps, Facebook, music, and YouTube apps work just fine.

Do I bite the bullet and buy a new one (current one is past warranty exp date) or is there something I can do?
