Turn off system-wide contact name suggestions

Apple has an otherwise great feature that tries to autocomplete names that you type with people from your contacts. Usually that's fine except when it pops up on another interface and blocks your ability to see the names on another menu. For example, messaging people in Facebook, results in the screenshot below in Safari. Facebook's name suggestion menu is being obscured by Apple's system-wide one which is super annoying. Is there a way to tell Mac OS to stop doing that?

And no, not all my friends are named Mike... :)

See if going to Safari/Preferences/AutoFill and unchecking Using information from my contacts helps.

Disable "Show contacts Siri found in apps"

That did the trick! This was checked in my Safari preferences. When I turned it off, the second pop-up menu of names disappeared. I've looked through Safari's preferences before but somehow this went right past me.

You are welcome. Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

You know, thinking about this, it would probably be a good UI addition for Apple to add a button at the bottom of that pop-up menu to close it. That way, people could leave this feature on (because it is actually very helpful) but being able to dismiss it when it's a nuisance.

I appreciate your help but mine was already unchecked.

And it would be very weird for Apple to put a system-wide preference setting in an individual app like that.
