One Apple ID, Two phone numbers?

I'm setting up a second iPhone, so now I will have one for work and one for personal use. Can I use the same Apple ID on both phones? My primary concern is around iMessage. Will iMessage mix my messages from two different phone numbers? Or can you only have one phone number per Apple ID and messaging apps?

Will I need to set up a second Apple ID to keep the two accounts and phone number separate?

You should be able to add both phone numbers to your ID. Messages may mix depending on what you have set in Setting/Messages/Send & Receive. You can choose different IDs/phone numbers on each phone.

If you want to keep everything separate, for example Contacts, having 2 IDs will do that.
