Help my messages did not transfer to my new iPhone. Everything else seems to transfer why didn’t the messages. Any help greatly appreciated. I still have the old phone but have to traded in soon. Thanks in advance

Had you enabled Messages in iCloud?
Your messages will come from one of 2 sources depending on this setting.
I used the iCloud method method and everything else came down fine except for the messages. Is there anyway to just get the messages out of the cloud down to my new phone. I did a back up from the old phone just like it said before set up the new phone and I actually let the phones do everything I just follow the instructions. But the messages did not come down
