hi, i just installed macOS X el captain version 10.11.6 i want to update to Mojave, but I can't do that unless i have already downloaded sierra and high sierra, however, the in the app store no updates appear so that i can do so. Any help would be nice.

If you are not seeing an update to Mojave, there is a chance your system doesn't support it.
Can you provide the 3rd line from the 'About this Mac' screen on your system?
You can reach it by clicking the Apple menu at the top left, then select About this Mac.
You should see something that says something like "Mac mini (Late 2012)" only with your system model and year code, that way you can compare it against the Mojave requirements.

No if it is an early 2009 iMac then El Capitan is as far as it can go.
Have a look here at the compatibility for Sierra, High Sierra is the same.
You don't have to download the other Oses. You can go straight to Mojave if your hardware supports it.
Hi, sorry for late reply. The third line says iMac (24-inch, Early 2009). I now know that it isn't capable of downloading mojave, but can it get sierra? or high sierra? or is it also incompatible? thanks
