A1243 Keyboard Will Not Work

I am having issues with the A1243 full size aluminum wired keyboard not working. It will not work with the suggested fix of a USB extender cable, nor with a Flash Drive, Cell Charger or Vacuum Cleaner plugged into it. When I plug the keyboard into my MacBook Air with or without the extender the USB sockets power up anything I have inserted but the keyboard itself doesn’t do a thing. I purchased it probably two years ago if not longer and its lucky if it has been typed on a dozen times. When it stopped working back then it was unplugged and stored on a shelf where I recently found it and want to know what I need to do to get it working seeing what I paid for the stupid thing, I’m not at a means at the moment to be able to purchase a replacement and I need it working again. Please any helpers. I did not attempt the SMC reset I’ve seen posted because I would imagine that it should work in at least one of the devices I’ve plugged it into with no avail.
