problem with screen recording audio

I had a very important FaceTime call today that I needed to save to go back to later, so I screen recorded it. I triple checked that my microphone was on, and tested it before the call with another screen recording. However, after I recorded the call and went into my photos to watch it, there was no volume. This was a really important call and I am very disappointed in the audio not recording as it had earlier. Is there any way to get the audio back?

The microphone is automatically disabled on the built-in screen recording when you are using any type of communication services like the Phone, FaceTime, or Skype. So no, unfortunately there isn't a way to recover the audio.

Screen recording actually DOES record audio, just not when you're using any kind of communication service.

How to record the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support: "In iOS 11 or later, you can create a screen recording and capture sound on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch."

No. Screen recording does not do audio.
