iphone Voicemail saying it's full after all messages deleted and cleared

Nobody can leave me voicemails and I can't figure out what the problem is. I deleted all of my voicemails and cleared the messages. I've restarted my phone several times as well. I'm reading others with the same issue, but no real resolutions. Anyone?

iPhone 8, iOS 12

EASY FIX. Called Verizon. Tech support said they have been getting this a lot with the new iOS update.

  1. Settings - > Phone - > Change Voicemail Password
  2. Enter new PIN twice and it should save.
  3. Go to Home screen.
  4. Call *86.
  5. Prompt will ask for voicemail PIN. Do NOT enter it. Just hang up.
  6. Problem solved.

Tech said this works 100% of the time! Worked for me as I immediately tested it from my landline. He said something that by entering new PIN and then calling and hanging up you are bumping the system so it knows you are there. Or something. I didn't really care so long as it worked.

Cheers!

In order to delete all your old voicemails even if you previously deleted them on your phone you have to press button “1” and hold to moment when phone dials voicemail mail box on your carrier server.

Then you will be able to delete manually every single message it will take some time because you have to do it one by one in AT& T carrier delete option is number “7” don’t know if other carriers this option is the same.

Didn't contact Apple yet to find out what course this problem, messages deleted in your phone aren’t deleted from your carrier server.

Good Luck

Thank you. Your solution worked for ATT "full voice messages" error on an iPhone. In my case it was simply a matter of following these instructions.

Call voicemail to listen to messages

From  your AT&T wireless phone

  1. From your AT&T wireless phone, press and hold 1.
  2. If prompted, enter your voicemail password. Any new unheard messages will begin to play. (at this point I was told I had no messages). Afterwards when calling from a landline, it went to voice mail without the error.

For anyone else having this issue, I finally got it to work after multiple trouble shooting attempts. The thing that did it was calling *86 to listen to my messages that way. it said that my mailbox was full and immediately afterward said there was nothing in my inbox. I called back a second time and it just gave the second message.
