importing cvsv files from numbers to r

I have a WHO csv file on my computer that I have downloaded to numbers9 that I want to load into my copy of R but none of the procedures listed work and all i get from r are error messages saying that the file WHO cannot be found. My operating system is MacOS High Sierra 10 13.6. Can you help?

I can confirm Ian's comment that R doesn't recognize Numbers documents. "Out of the box" I don't think it recognizes Excel format either though there may be some add-ons for that. It does recognize CSV out of the box, though. Perhaps you have done some "cleaning up" of your data in Numbers? If so you can File > Export To > CSV ... to save it in a format that you can import into R.

Hi Darwin,

I have used R (a statistical package similar to S-plus) on a Windows machine. I have not tried R on an Apple machine. Perhaps R does not recognise Numbers documents. From memory (7 years ago!) R will open an Excel file or a tab-delimited text file. From Numbers '09 (and later versions of Numbers) you can export to Excel. Or you can copy data from Numbers and paste into TextEdit, then save to create a tab-delimited text file.

Regards,

Ian.
