Does System Information report the same thing?? Sometimes I wonder if "About this Mac..." is always accurate. SI is in the folder path Applications > Utilities. This is how SI's Memory info displays on a newer iMac:
I'm surprised 1067 works at all. The last iMac speced for 1067mhz RAM was the Late 2009. It's common for RAM rated faster than the system to clock back, but slower RAM more often causes crashes or failures to start.
We've bought all or Mac RAM fro OWC for over a decade. This is their listing for your iMac using two 8GB modules:

Yes system information reports the same( I’ve attached a pic below ). It’s the first iMac I’ve owned and seems to be running well. I really would like to see how it would run compared to the same model iMac with the 1600MHz Ram it should have though. Thanks for the link to macsales!
While it physically matches it won't run at the correct speed and may cause kernel panics. What does it say when you click the Memory tab? Is all the ram 1067MHz? If just one module is it will slow the entire system down to that speed.
just checked and it has 4 banks of 4GB 1067MHz installed totalling 16GB. I’ve had it for a few days and everything seems to be running well. I was worried that it might cause me issues or may cause something to fail prematurely. I’m assuming that I can replace it with 1600MHz Ram that the late 2012 Imacs came out with.
If you’re planning on upgrading the ram just remember that if you leave one module of the slower ram in the Mac will slow ALL of the ram to that speed. Replace it all at once or not at all and use quality tam from a either Crucial or OWC for the best reliability.
The reason I asked is because I just bought a second hand late 2012 iMac and it shows under ‘about this Mac ‘ that it had 16GB 1067MHz DDR3 Ram installed.
i’ve attached a pic below.
No it is totally different RAM.
Thanks for the advice Mike. Appreciate it!
