Set View Option Defaults for Icon Size and Grid Spacing for all Folders and Sub-Folders

MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.4

I am trying to set a default size and grid spacing for icons in all folders and sub folders, but it appears one has to set the Show View Options per folder/sub-folder. I have opened the Show View Options in Finder and have selected "Always open in icon view/Browse in icon view/Icon size set/Grid spacing set/Text size set etc" (as show in the image below) before selecting "Use as Defaults." On opening another folder the settings for the Show View Options do not match those that I had set previously and I find I have to change the view options for folders & sub-folders individually. This is quite frustrating and surely there should be an option to set the default icon size etc for all folders and sub-folders?

The icon view for all folders and sub folders is not the most efficient way for viewing files—this would be list view.

The GUI interface of icon view may be pretty however a bit of a kludge in this way.

I followed the guidance:

On your Mac, click the Finder icon in the Dock to open a Finder window.

Select the folder you want to change, then click a View button: Icon, List, Column or Gallery.

Choose View > Show View Options, then set the options you want.

Have the folder always open in this view: Select the “Always open in” tickbox.

Have subfolders also open in this view: Select the “Browse in” tickbox.

If a subfolder opens in a different view, select the subfolder, choose View > Show View Options, then deselect the “Always open in” and “Browse in” tickboxes. The tickboxes must be selected for the main folder and deselected for the subfolder.

Select Icon view options: Change the icon size, grid spacing, text size and more.

The frustrating thing is that I have to do this for every sub folder in My Documents and this could take hours to complete. I am looking for a global setting that sets the view options as a default for all folders and sub folders i.e. one change vs ±100 plus changes.
