iCloud Notes very slow in web browser

Hi,

I've had this problem on and off since I began using iCloud Notes so I'd would appreciate any help.

My problem is that when I use iCloud Notes on my PC at work using the web browser, it takes about 4 seconds from when I press a key on my keyboard and when it appears in a note in iCloud Notes. Some times some notes cannot load, but they work fine on my both MAC Minis and all my phones and iPads

This problem makes it very hard for me to use iCloud Notes on other devices than Apple products.

I'm using Chrome or Firefox, but have also tried Safari on a MAC and they are all fully updated.

There is a workaround with the non loading notes and that is to copy the complete note on my Mac and then paste it into a new note and delete the old one.

It might be the same thing with the slow notes, but that is just a guess.

Thank you for any help!

Mac mini, macOS 10.13

Hello and thanks for posting.

I am sorry that you are having troubles with the Notes web app. So what it sounds like is one of several things. It could be that your network is a little too slow, your PC doesn't isn't allowed to use the bandwidth that is needed, or your PC doesn't;t have enough power to handle the web app.

If I may ask a few questions; Are you on WiFi or Ethernet? Is it only your PC that is having the issue, or is there another PC with the same issue? What is the make, model, and year of the PC you are using? One thing I may add is to clear the cache and cookies in the Google Chrome settings.

I can't go into too many details, but I hope this is enough to get you started. Please get back to me.

Thanks

I haven't seen the "A" in bold but I continue to have some notes that won't load in iCloud notes on a Windows 10 PC using Chrome. I can fix this by going into Notes on my iPhone and copying the note contents and pasting into a new note, then deleting the old one. This fixes it, at least temporarily. For some notes I have to do this again the next day when I log in. Even when loading, some notes respond to keystrokes very slowly making the note hard to edit - again, this is in iCloud notes using Chrome (tried other browsers as well) on a Windows 10 PC. Everything worked fine up until about a week ago.

However, I have noticed that tables, which didn't appear correctly in Chrome, are now fixed and display fine. Seems like Apple is messing with this and may have fixed one thing but broke something else.

If this is ever fixed, I hope someone posts something here so I can consider coming back. In the mean time, I've migrated to OneNote. I found that a copy / paste from Notes to OneNote from the iPhone to be the best way because it retains the line spacing. Doing so from the web removes all the blank lines in my notes. OneNote has some nice features, including better searching of notes.

i am having the same issue. It began about a week ago...Chrome Browser, Win 10. Always worked perfectly before, but now icloud notes on web browser is unusable. It takes ages to load. saving just makes the web app freeze for about 30 seconds. Writing notes and editing notes has become impossible via pc, yet on iphone and ipad it is still perfect. What has happened to the icloud notes website that it has gone soooo sssllloooooooooooow?

Exactly the same happening to me in recent weeks.

Very annoying because I like the simplicity and synchronicity of the notes between iPhone, iPad and Windows PC.

I have tested internet and it's defintiely not the problem because everything else is running fine. Tried clearing cache and cookies and no difference. Also tried switching browser (from Chrome to Firefox) and still no difference :(

Would be great to hear a solution because I'm hesitant to switch note platforms.

Cheers

I don't know what Apple would get from doing this deliberately. It's not as if any of us would switch to a Mac solely to get Notes to work. After a frustrating month with Notes, I switched to OneNote and I like it much better. If Notes was fixed tomorrow, I would not return. If you migrate, do it on the iPhone because the 'copy' from Notes and the 'paste' to OneNote retains formatting. That was not the case for me in Windows.

Thanks for answering!

Wifi or Ethernet, tested both.

On my network at work and my private network at home where I have no other problems.

Without the app running, there is no problem with the PC, but with the app running in either browser it takes up 40-50% of the CPU (Dell Latitude 7480 i7, 16GB, 256 GB SSD).

I just tested using Safari on my Mac Mini (i7, 16GB) too, same thing with the non working note I copied and deleted.

I would say that it kind of feels like crap that is not used is added up in the file until it is not downloadable to the browser, but it is handled OK in the original Apple Notes App, just like a database with too much redundency that needs to be cleaned...

Best regards,

Jonas

I'm having the same issue too. I've used iCloud notes on my PC for several years, and it's always worked fine, but in the last couple of weeks I've had lots of issues.

It's generally slower than it was, it freezes often, and many of my notes won't load at all (the screen will just say 'Loading...').

I know this isn't an issue with my PC or browser, as I'm having the same issues on both my home and work computers.

Clearly something has changed (for the worse), so a response from Apple on this is needed.
