Modifying Pages Paragraph Styles

I've been trying to use Pages new table of contents feature, but I don't want to mess up any of my other documents. I don't use different paragraph styles that often. I simply modify whatever text I'm working with. If I change the paragraph styles on one document, will it change them for all of Pages or just that one document?
