Is it possible to find out if an iPad is iCloud locked before you buy?

So I’m new to iPads, and I was going to buy a 6th gen one second hand... The seller gave me the IMEI, but I want to know if there is a way you can check to see if it is iCloud locked before you purchase or not??

iPad (6th gen) WiFi, Cellular

that is critical information they won't provide any security information like lost mode, iCloud lock or any other

an iPhone or iPad could be IMEI unlocked and iCloud locked at the same time, do not buy any device (usually a locked iPhone/iPad/iPod has very low price) if it is not restored to factory settings, do not pay online like Ebay stuff if you do not want to lose your money man, that's my best advise for you.

If you can't see the device in person and validate it's not activation locked, DON'T BUY IT. If you want to save money, buy a refurbished iPad from Apple directly. It will come with a full one year warranty and be completely unlocked, ready for you to set it up.

Here's a link to the refurbished store, where they do have 6th generation iPad's available: https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/ipad?afid=p238%7CgdBmhqj1-dc_mtid_1870765e38482_pcrid_78408974885691_&cid=aos-us-kwbi-ipad--slid--apple+refurbished+ipad-be-product-

Unless you have it physically in your hands, and can complete setup and activation with your AppleID, there is no way of knowing if it is activation locked to another AppleID.

Erasing a device by itself does not remove activation lock. That requires knowledge of the AppleID password used with iCloud.

Knowing the imei tells you nothing, since the imei has nothing whatsoever to do with activation lock.

And Apple does not get involved, at all, with private party sales or exchanges of personal property. When you are buying used, you are on your own - caveat emptor.
