How can I remove Batang font when it does not appear in the Font book at all. It is the default font in comments (in Word 2019)—I also cannot do a find and replace because the font does not appear and there is not an option to replace 'any font' with another one.

Batang is a font intended for Korean script on Windows machines, something is wrong if you are working in English.
If you are actually running Word for Windows on your Mac, you should ask in the Word for Windows forum at MS instead of the Word for Mac one given in the link above.
