MacBook Air Battery Service Issue
Hi guys!
I'm from Sri Lanka and the only "Support" option available for this country is "Bring it in for repair". So here we go.
I have a MacBook Air early 2015 model, and for some reason its battery life has gotten terrible. It shuts down suddenly at about 60% of the battery, and when the charger is plugged in afterwards, it shows something like 12% battery (And the battery charges itself up if you just leave it be). I got a "Service Battery" message aswell. This issue appeared like 1 year into my ownership.
Note: I got the device used but with apple care warranty till 2020.
This is the story.
I initially took the device to the only "Premium" service center listed in the support site. They go by the name "Future World". They diagnosed the problem to be a degraded battery (Which I could already tell). They informed me that batteries cannot be shipped through airlines as part of country's regulations, and told me that if it was bought by them, they could've done something. I had warranty, and they didn't have any repair options. Certainly I didn't expect that.
The next service center I took the device was to is BTStore, which also happens to be the reseller this device was initially sold by. I explained them the issue and they said they have to submit a report to apple to see what they can do. I gave my device to them on 25th February 2019, and they returned the device to me 3 days later, informing me that they checked everything and submitted a report/case to apple.
About a week later they reported they can go for a device replacement, and have to wait till apple ships back a unit, and currently they don't have this model in stock.
Today is 25th April 2019, and 2 months later, they still run the same story.
I don't know if they are telling the truth anymore. And I don't have any other support options listed for my country either.
Hope somebody at apple will take this to notice and provide a solution.
Thanks!
