Apple Music won’t launch in CarPlay

Can somebody help? Apple Music works fine on my iPhone xs but when I attach it via USB to Car Play it won’t launch at all. If I try and open Apple Music on my phone whilst it is connected, it won’t launch either. All other apps work fine in CarPlay, maps, messages, phone etc. My sons phones work using the same cable and play Apple Music fine.

I have deleted and reinstalled Apple Music. Changed the USB port .

Any suggestions??

Hi applemax,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand you're having trouble using Apple Music when you're connected to CarPlay on your iPhone. I also see that a different iPhone works as expected with CarPlay and Apple Music, and that you've tried reinstalling the Music app and using a different USB port. I appreciate you including those details, they're most helpful. I know how important it is to use all of the iPhone features compatible with CarPlay; I'd like to help. I'd recommend following the steps below and testing for the behavior after each:

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. After your iPhone is updated, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

    1. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
    2. Restart your iPhone and your car.
    3. Make sure that Siri is on.
    4. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
    5. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and tap Forget This Car.
    6. Check your connection:
      • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
      • If you have a wireless connection, enable AirPlane Mode by going to Settings > Airplane Mode. Don't enable Airplane Mode from Control Center.
    1. If needed, install firmware updates. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support."
