iPhone not connecting to iTunes app

Ok, so when I connect my iPhone 7 to my mac it charges normally and I can import photos via the photos app on my mac but the problem is I can’t connect my iPhone to the iTunes app and I can’t sync my music anymore like I used to do.

If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

I have this problem from time to time with my iPad Air 2. What I do is restart the Mac, and my iPad. I will quit and relaunch iTunes a few times as well.

I usually sync over WiFi. I never have a problem if I connect with the cable. Sometimes it takes me a few tries, but I always get it to work again over WiFi. I just stick with it.
