We have 5 people in our household - 1 car with Car Play stereo to be installed. Can each person connect to the Car Play system as they drive the vehicle? And if two or more get in the car, how does it determine who to connect to?

Apple CarPlay can be used with a USB or Bluetooth connection, depending on which Apple CarPlay your vehicle supports.
Follow the steps to set up CarPlay for your vehicle, as shown here: How to use CarPlay with your iPhone. Each driver can follow those steps to connect their iPhone, or a passenger can connect theirs, if preferred.
