Switching between different camera modes on the Apple Watch

I was playing with the Apple Watch camera remote feature. I can press firmly and flip the camera and choose live photos, but how do I switch between camera modes, like photo and video?

At https://support.apple.com/guide/watch/camera-apda6e61c287/watchos it says:

"Open the Camera app on your iPhone, then swipe to choose Time-Lapse, Slo-Mo, Video, Portrait, or Square."

But swipe in what direction? I tried left, right, up, and down and nothing happens.
