Connecting Apple TV to WiFi

I am trying to connect an Apple TV (latest model, non-4K) to an open network. However, the network itself, when connected, requires a username/password. The Apple TV will connect to the network, but not give me the option to enter the username/password. Is there a way to bypass this?

Thank you.

Apple TV is designed to connect to a home network, where you can trust everyone on that network, and where the selected Wi-Fi only requires a password. It will not work with ‘captive portal’ networks, that require a username and a password.

  • You could possibly get a (travel-) router to go in between your devices and the network.
  • You could possibly set up a digital profile certificate, in collaboration with the network admin, to put the username and password in settings, using the Configurator deployment software tool. Probably only advisable in education and the like.
