GarageBand Input Not Working

GarageBand didn't asked for permission to access my USB Microphone. It is not possible to enable the mic for GarageBand on System Preferences/Privacy because GarageBand is not present on the mic list. The button to reset any warnings on Garageband's preferences seems to do nothing.

How can I force the GarageBand to ask for permission to access the Microphone so that the recording works?

I am using Mac OS Mojave 10.14.4

iMac 27", macOS 10.12

Microphone not working as input in garage band I'm trying to set up garageband on my new macmini. When I launch it, it seems to recognize my external microphone. The external microphone works for other applications, such as zoom, and registers as a sound input. When the track opens up in garage band, it says "no input" and I can't access the microphone. I've tried security settings in preferences, and garage band is not listed as allowed to access the microphone, but it does not appear to be asking permission to access the microphone. Any suggestions? Garageband newbie

Garage Band I am using garage band 10.4.6 on MacBook pro 16 inch with OS monterey. Garage Band preferences is set to built microphone. I am trying to record ambient sounds. I have track set up with microphone. When I click record I get a message that says "no input selected.
