I have tried both the internal mic on my Macbook air, and a USB mic, neither of them work. It seems to be because Garageband isn't asking for permission to use the mic. But I can't get it to request permission.
any advice?
you can add the permissions manually in the System Preferences for Security and Privacy. click the Microphone in the sidebar and then the + to add GarageBand.
