i went for a sleep today and I don’t know how but somehow I managed to fall asleep with my torch on when I woke the phone was roasting hot the light was still on and it was to hot to touch I turned to torch of and let it cool down I do not notice any damage to the device or anything but I am worried there could be damage in the inside

Time will tell. Last summer, I left my phone on the dashboard of my car in the hot sun. It shut down automatically from overheating and it's worked fine since then.
I suspect that yours did not get quite as hot because the automatic shutdown did not occur.
No there was no over heat message I’m surprised tho because it was boiling to touch I just hope it’s ok I haven’t had it a week lol and it is the iPhone XR so probably a fortune to repair lol
