Anable to use my phone because it is associated with an Apple ID that no longer exists

I recently deleted my Apple ID account so I can use a new one. In the process, I forgot to erase this old account from my phone. So right now that I want to change to my new account, the device asks me for the password of the old account and says it's wrong; and I can't enter my old account through the Apple ID website because it says that my old account no longer exists. What can I do?

If you are the original owner, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.

or contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt/paperwork also.
