How to delete the 'Last Import' folder in Photos?

Can someone please tell me how to delete the 'Last Import' folder in Photos?

I'm using macOS Mojave 10.14.4 with Photos 4.0

Prior to deleting every photo in the folder, it was 'stuck' and never updated. Only the 'Imports' folder updated. I've since deleted every photo in the 'Last Import' folder - and it still won't go away.

Please advise.

You can't delete that folder as it's hard coded into the application along with the Photos, Memories, Favorites, People and Places.

The only albums or folders you can delete are those that you create.

Since a new library does not have the "Last Import", it is clear, that your current library is damaged.

Photos does only have the one repair tool, that you already tried without success.

Can you drag the Last Import from the Library section to the "My Albums" section? If you can get it to "my Albums" you may be able to delete it.

If all that fails, you would need to do "something drastic" as Keith earlier wrote. Or wait for a system update, that will recreate the library.

You did not yet answer my earlier question about iCloud Photos.

If you are using iCloud Photos, the best way to create a clean new version of your Photos Library would be to enable your new, empty Photos Library as your System Photo Library and to sync this library with iCloud. All photos, albums, metadata will download from iCloud to the new library, hopefully without the errant "Last Import".

I have seen similar leftover "Last Import" in Photos iOS after the iOS 12 upgrade, Keith. These vanished after reinstalling the system and restoring the iPhone from a backup. On iOS, there is no chance that the migration from iPhoto would have caused this, only the upgrade from iOS 11 to iOS 12.

It might be an iPhoto leftover on the Mac, but then the album should appear in the "My Albums" section and not under "Library", like shown in OT's screenshot.

I could never reproduce this fluke album by migrating an iPhoto or Aperture library, that had a "Last Import" album.

That is why I really would like to see, if the problem is system wide and perhaps caused by an incomplete installation of Photos. If the same problem appears on iOS 12 as on macOS 10.14, it might be a problem with the Photos.app.

If you cannot delete the "Last Import", even after repairing the library, you may want to test, if your installed Photos 4.0 is working correctly.

Create a new Photos Library and import two photos, one after the other into this new Photos Library. Does the new library also have a "Last Import" album?

To create a new test library, quit Photos , if it is running, then launch it again, while holding down the options key ⌥. Keep holding down the key, until the Library chooser dialog appears. Select to create a new library. import a photo, then another one. Does it create a Last Import album?

To switch back to your main library double click the main library to open it.
