Lost Iphone

Hi, my iPhone X was stolen a few weeks ago and I had set find my iPhone on it, it has been off line since, I set it to erase once it connects online through the find my phone app. Today I received a WhatsApp message saying my phone was located and to logon to iCloud to see it’s location. Upon doing this it showed as still off line and I couldn’t see a location. I logged out. I relogged in and I could a prompt message telling me there was someone logging into my account from Moscow and I denied access. A few minutes later my iPhone was no longer visible on my account and it stated that it’s no longer associated with my account. I quickly changed my password. Please advise if I have been hacked, do I have to worry that someone has gained access to my information and am I still able to recover my phone.

They don't have access to the data that was on the phone. Odds are they never cared about that. They only wanted the ability to remove the activation lock, which you gave them when you fell for the scam and gave them your iCloud account credentials.

You need to change your iCloud password. Now.

But how did they get my number? I didn’t send details on the app number. But I did log into my iCloud. Wherein I got a prompt that someone trying to access my account from Moscow. I have 2 step authentication so I denied access and then quickly logged out and went on to change my password. Do I need to worry

So it is no possible for them to get my information from my logging into my iCloud. I have two step authentication so they would need the authentication number sent to my other trusted devices in order to get in, is this correct. Please advise when I set my lost iPhone to erase once on line does the erasure remove it from iCloud account.

Thank you, have just read that. Now am panicked as I didn’t remove the device from my iCloud but it has been removed so according to the link you gave me that means the erase command I had put will no longer work meaning who ever has my iPhone has access to my details. Can this be the case.
