iPhone earpiece making ticking/clicking noises

My iPhone 7 is making weird static, clicking/ticking noises coming from the earpiece speaker, it happens when I’m just using my phone on apps when I place it near my ear I hear these sounds. I’ve read a lot about how it could mean my phones tapped/hacked so hoping someone can tell me what is actually more likely could me

thanks

Hi Emilydawe6,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you're hearing clicking noises from your iPhone speaker.

This isn't likely an indication of any suspicious activity, but there may be a few things to consider. First, to clarify, is this happening when you're using apps that involve your speakers, like Phone or Music?

Does the same thing happen when you use headphones? Use Apple headphones with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod

Does it make a difference if you Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch?

Which iOS version are you using under Settings > General > About?

Take care.
