Why won’t iMovie let me detach audio then delete the video?

I have iMovie on my iPhone 8 and I want to detach the audio from a music video and put my own video over it. For some reason, whenever I detach the audio and delete the video, it deletes the detached audio along with the soundless video. Why does it do this, and how to I keep just the audio?

When dragging in clips from my iPhone audio is not included Hi, I'm just learning iMovie. When bringing in video clips from my iPhoto library I can't find the audio.
