imessage groups

Why does Apple make it so that we can only message 10 people at a time? And also why can we only name groups if members have other apple products? it's 2019. you'd think that by now we'd be able to text a large group, and name it whatever we'd like, instead of using 3rd party apps

That is also restricted by cellular providers. A group message that contains non-iOS devices is an MMS, which is controlled by the carrier, and thus cannot be manipulated by Apple, which is what happens when you name a group message. It can only be done with iMessage, since Apple has control of that message. It cannot be done with an MMS, since that it controlled by the cellular providers. This also explains why you cannot add or remove members of a group message if they are not all iOS users. Again, controlled by the carrier.

These policies are set by Cellular Service Providers (Globally).

iMessage uses Data on your cellular network. More the number of iMessages, more the data and more burden for the subscribers and more the problem for the service providers to explain to the subscriber's where their data was used

This is the exact reason why only 150MB apps can be downloaded from Cellular Network. Beyond that you need to use WiFi.
