all of my emails are off line on my Mac and my gmail says this Connections to the server “imap.gmail.com” on the default ports timed out.

do I remove all the accounts and start again?

Well yes that is the shotgun approach and may well resolve your issue.


Mail>Window>Connection Doctor>Show Details for more clues


you can check Mail>Preferences>Accounts> Gmail> Server Settings> √ Automatically manage


and >Advanced> Look at the TLS certificate > set to none

Hi - I tried that - the Gmail account doesn't offer me that info but the other do and they seem to be set up as you suggest.

this is the message I get when I try to send from icloud

502 Bad Gateway

ProtocolException('Server connection to (\'p09-smtp.mail.me.com\', 80) failed: Error connecting to "p09-smtp.mail.me.com": [Errno 61] Connection refused',)

Connections to the server “imap.gmail.com” on the default ports timed out.
