Has OS X Mojave killed your ability to print to an HP Color Laser 500 MFP printer ?

Well Mojave upgrade seems to have killed my ability to print to an HP MFP 500! I can print Word docs, simple PDF's but anything that is graphic heavy arrives at the networked (Cat5) printer and hangs.

Another Mac running 10.11.6 El Capitan still prints everything fine. Anyone else experience this and if so what was your solution. (HP has no updated drivers that I could find...)

TIA

Hi, Kiwibru !

Not to be contrary, but I found this on HP's website :

You didn't correctly specify which HP printer you have, but based on the information you did supply Google says this is a match. It has been my experience that even if the driver isn't an exact match it still (sorta) works. There was also this :

I should think there is a driver of some stripe on the HP site which is compatible with Mojave, and will fill your needs.

Good luck !

You cannot assume that the printer drivers that work well on El Capitan continue to work flawlessly, or at all on Mojave. HP released a version of Easy Start in Sept 2018, and in January 2019, a FutureSmart firmware bundle, including paper handling facilities was released. This will be specific to the Mnnn variant of your HP Color Laser 500 MFP Mnnn device.

Google this: HP Color Laser 500 MFP Mnnn drivers

replacing the nnn with your variant model number. Do not select a site in the results that is not an hp.com based destination. Choose macOS and 10.14 for the operating system from the driver page. Get and install the correct firmware, and the Easy Start tool that will locate the most recent driver. Reset the Print System.
