Extremely fast battery loss on iPod nano 7th generation

I have an iPod nano 7th generation. It acts completely normal until I pair it with Bluetooth headphones or speaker. After pairing with either of the above it will completely drain a fully charged battery in less than five minutes. Just wondering if anyone has an idea of why this happens.

Hello poocher2020,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that your iPod nano battery drains rapidly after connecting with a Bluetooth device. I can surely see how this could be concerning. I'm happy to help.

If you haven't already, make sure your iPod has the latest software version by connecting to iTunes on your computer. iTunes will notify you if an update in needed. Also take a look at the resource below for more steps to maximize the battery life:

If the issue persists, I recommend taking your iPod to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Store for evaluation.

The ipod nano has the latest update from Apple but they don't support the device anymore. I like the nano because of it's small size and light weight. Will probably stop using it and just use my iphone instead. I have the phone with me all the time and it has the same music on it. Really like the nano but I want to get rid of the wired earphone. Haven't found any wireless ear phones that work with it properly. The only thing that might fix it is an update from Apple and that's not happening. Have tried all the suggestions but they don't make a difference. Thank you.
