"vital energy".

Yup, that's what I got..... (and some sort of game).

@ rbrylawski:

I don't do Samsung, so wouldn't be tuned in to anything of theirs (our TV is my first and last Samsung purchase - ever. It was a nightmare); my iPhone is a used SE which my partner insisted on giving to me (and I prefer using my flip phone) and my watch is a regular old fashioned one, so I am woefully out of date with gadgets and their specs, LOL.

Thanks to both of you, I now know what the wireless charging standard is!

Guess I have been just totally clueless and uninformed about the origins about wireless charging technologies and standards all of these years.

I thought the whole device wireless charging and the data/device pairing/transferring “thing” between devices had only been around for less than 5 years, or so.

Had no clue about this Qi wireless charging technology and standard, at all! None. Zip. Zilch. Nada!

Maybe back in 2008, it was something I might have seen or read about in a Wired magazine article ( learned about Bluetooth technology that way, back then ), but really didn't understand this wireless charging technology and standards that were coming, had no real interest in the technical aspects of wireless charging technology and was of no interest to me then.

So I never gave this technology any more thought, after that!

I've only come to know about wireless charging in the most recent years with the newer iPhones and Samsung phones.

Heck, I didn't even know how “Qi” was pronounced until I watched a presentation about this wireless charging technology technology and standard on very recent episodes of iOS Today and Mac Break Weekly on the online TWiT TV technology web channel and on YouTube.

It's been common enough for at least three or four years. Other phone manufacturers were offering it several years before Apple. And, even before Apple offered it, there were cases that made it possible. I've been using wireless charging cases on my iPhone since the iPhone 6. As I still only have an iPhone 7+, I continue to use a case. I'm not sure I see the value (for me) of wireless charging for iPads. For stability, the charging pad would have to be rather large. But, for phones, it's fantastic. I have charging stands that hold the phone at an easy viewing angle.

For a while, Starbucks was talking about building charging pads into the tables in all of their shops. Sadly, nothing came of that.
