Text message forwarding

When I enable (on my iPhone) to allow text message forwarding on my iPad, it tells me to enter the code on my iPad, which doesn’t show up. What should I do?

First, you must be logged in to the same Apple ID on both devices. Then unlock your iPad before before enabling text message forwarding.
