I have tried for an hour to remove an address on a contact and type a new one but can’t get it to take. Deleted the two and added the new one. Pressed done. Exited the contact. Went back to contact and nothing had changed. Anybody have a solution?

Have you tried force restarting the phone after you change the contact? Or try a forced restart first, then change the contact.
On an iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
