No sync icons on files

Some of my files and folders in my iCloud drive don't have sync icons on them. Is there a way to know if they have been successfully synced? Some of the files are large (~3 GB) and I don't know if it's safe to delete them from my other cloud storage provider. Many of the files have been sitting in my drive folder for a few weeks and nothing has changed. I've tried restarting my mac several times but it hasn't helped.

Thanks for any help!

Good morning sam1119!

I see that you have some concerns with files in iCloud Drive. I'll be happy to help out.

The files that you see in the iCloud Drive folder are already synced to iCloud. You can always sign in to iCloud.com using a browser on a computer and click "iCloud Drive" to view files that have been synced to iCloud. The icon that you're seeing next to some files in the screenshot you provided mean that the files are available to download to the Mac, as they are currently only stored in iCloud. The files without this icon are in iCloud and also downloaded to the device.

Hope that helps! Cheers.
