AppleCare for MacBook Pro 2018

Hey everyone which insurance have you got for your MacBook Pro.

I’m in the UK and AppleCare + for the latest MacBook Pro 15 inch a1990 2018 model is £399 very pricey.

I bought the MacBook a few days ago and I know i’ve got up to 60 days to get it.

Wonder if if the bank covers laptops as they do gadget insurance at my bank but that’s usually for mobile phones and laptops but not at this price £2700.

With Apple is it only AppleCare + the only insurance options they have.

What would you recommend

MacBook Pro 15”, macOS 10.14

Yes...Yes...VladTepesRomania... you are right it is pricey. Your bank may cover laptops with an extended warranty, or if you bought your MacBook Pro with a credit card. Again, it depends on your bank and which credit card you used. You'd have to check with them to make sure. Usually you have about a years warranty on your MacBook Pro. With AppleCare +, that will be extended to about 3 years. Again, you'll have to check with your credit card company/bank to see what is covered, how much, and what (if any) the extended warranty might be. Yes, appleCare+ is your only option for extending the warranty on all Apple products. Not that I'm saying it'll happen for sure, probably not, but if you have or need a huge repair done, then AppleCare + will take care of it.

and if you need a few huge repairs done and it happens often enough, then Apple can and may, at their own choice, replace your MacBook Pro with a similar model, free of charge to you. I'd say get AppleCare+..... better safe than sorry, right. Oh... and....

as long as you've bought a new MacBook Pro, why not get an external hard drive or AirPort Time Capsule (*should you be able to find one*) and get a backup system in place and working ?? again, better safe than sorry. it is easy to set up and use and almost does it automatically.

just my opinion

My 2017 15" MacBook Pro had 11 Screen Replacements. So, I am glad that I had purchased an AppleCare+ Protection. If I were to have replaced this screen 11 times -- without AppleCare+ Protection -- I would have spent, so I am told, a sum of $5,000 or thereabouts in US's currency. But, those failures all had to do with High Sierra Updates 10.13.3 and thereafter. With so many defects and send-ins, it was, respectfully, replaced.

So, just know that defects are always out there.

So if it’s not fault of my own and the laptop brakes then I don’t need to pay as it will be covered by AppleCare+ right.

mojave is the latest version now , should I upgrade it or stay on this version.

I guess a normal insurance with the bank for example won’t cover so many.

If I still get the insurance with the bank it won’t count as 2 insurances on it.

So looks like apple care sure is optional to get
