New user sign in on old iPad

I want to give my older ipad to my son. I erased the content, reset it, and removed it from my list. He still can't sign in using his ID since it says that mine was the last one to sign in to the device. How can I fix this?

Did you follow all the steps in this article, to include turning off Find My iPad?
