My phone won’t let me record a greeting for voicemail

My phone won’t let me record a greeting. I contacted Verizon but they said I had to contact Apple as it is an Apple error.

Try setting up your voicemail the "old fashioned way" using the keypad. Then try accessing visual voicemail.

  1. Enter *VM (*86).
  2. Tap the Call button.
  3. Follow the setup tutorial, which will walk you through selecting a password and recording both a voice signature and greeting for your voice mailbox.

  4. Note: If you hear your own or a system greeting, you've already set up your voicemail. Tap the # button to interrupt the greeting and follow the prompts to enter your password and retrieve your messages
