AirPods on my mac

Hi, I’ve been trying to connect my new AirPods 2 to my Mac and I keep getting a connection failed alert.

It does recognize it, but once I press the connect button after a few seconds I get the failed notice.

what to do?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14
